The Great Lakes Shipwreck Historical Society will host its 39th Annual Membership Meeting and Dinner on June 10, to take place at the Whitefish Township Community Center (Paradise, MI). The social hour is scheduled to begin at 5:00pm, while dinner will begin promptly at 6:00pm and the GLSHS Business Meeting at 7:00pm. Purchase Ticket
Our featured speaker, Paul LaMarre III, is scheduled to begin immediately following the Business meeting. Mr. LaMarre will talk about his “Life on the Lakes” and his efforts to preserve Great Lakes heritage past, present and future while serving as the Port Director of the Port of Monroe, MI while continuing to preserve the museum ship, Col. James M. Schoonmaker, which he is lauded for saving from the scrapyard. The Schoonmaker is now the centerpiece of the National Museum of the Great Lakes which LaMarre conceptualized. He hails from a family with strong connections to Great Lakes history, and his father Paul LaMarre Jr., is a renowned Great Lakes maritime artist. We are very excited to welcome Paul to our annual meeting, and we know that you will enjoy his presentation.
