Shipwreck Museum’s 50th Edmund Fitzgerald Memorial Ceremony
November 10, 2025
What a emotional and memorable week we had. The Great Lakes Shipwreck Historical Society want to thank the more than three thousand people who showed up for our daytime memorial…it will be a day no one who was there will ever forget.
We also want to thank the 100’s of thousands of folks who watched our livestream on November 10th for the 7pm memorial.
The families were honored so many people still care about their lost loved ones and the whole staff at GLSHS feel the same way.
If you missed either memorial they are now up on YouTube, which we’ve also shared below.
Respectfully,
The entire Great Lakes Historical Society Staff and Board

The Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum has become one of Michigan’s most popular destinations in the cultural tourism industry, attracting nearly 100,000 visitors each season. Museum patrons learn about the perils of maritime transport on the Great Lakes at the Whitefish Point Light Station, an historic site on the National Register of Historic Places. We are also home of the Whitefish Point Light Tower, which has been in continuous operation since 1861, making it the oldest operating lighthouse on Lake Superior.
